Monogram
This will be our monogram. The monogram was made using Adobe Illustrator. The font is Edwardian Script. We are using it on the belly bands of our invitations and on our unity candle.
Frame Card Box
This box was inspired by Heather. It was constructed using 4 photo frames, foam board, sea glass, and shells. Once we get our Engagement Pictures done, we will be replacing the flower pictures with our engagement pictures.
Unity Candle
I printed our monogram and a quote I copied from a unity candle I saw at Michael's onto vellum paper. Then, I wrapped it around the candle. There is a store near me called Amazing Savings. I bought the taper candle holders there for $1.99/set. Then, I glued on some sea glass and covered the cracks with sand.* The center candle holder is from Michael's. I used gel glue and mixed it with the sand. When that dried, I glued the shells down. So, now if it gets tipped over or anything, the sand and shells won't spill!
* The sand didn't really show up too well. As I was walking around Michael's it occurred to me that I could use grout to fill in the cracks. I bought ivory grout from Michael's. After I applied the grout and before it dried, I dipped it in the sand. The look is much better!

Boutineer
Here is a sample of what we want to do. We used the shells to tie in our theme. We wanted them to look like a rose bud. We will be using baby's breath instead of the blue filler.

Flower Girl Basket
Our church does not allow the flower girl to toss flower petals onto the floor, so I will be making a flower arrangement inside the basket. I used my handy dandy hot glue gun to put together the flower girl basket. I think it came out just perfect!
The basket is from Michael's. It looked like a picnic basket or a Little Red Riding Hood basket without the close top flaps. The sea star and sheer ribbon is from Michael's as well. The fabric is from Jo-Ann Fabrics. I bought the fabric during my first trip to Jo-Ann's. I got a little excited and bought really expensive fabric. I realized how much the fabric was after I had it cut and I couldn't bring myself to walk out the store and coming back another day after that long drive there. So I ended up buying it. (Next time I will look before I have fabric cut!) So, thus the pomander for the flower girl is no longer and the flower girl basket is in! (I have to use up the fabric and make the most of it. I'm sure you will see the fabric in other things). The sequin border is also from Jo-Ann's. |
Ring Bearer Pillow
The First Attempt: The theme of our wedding is Seaside Elegance. Instead of having a traditional ring bearer pillow, we are using a sea shell. I will be ordering the shell from http://www.shellhorizons.com/. ***
*** The shell I ordered is way too heavy. So now I'm back to the drawing board. I have given up on the shell idea since I need the pillow to hold the arras (coins) too. The smaller scallop shells just won't cut it. Now, I'm sewing a pillow for us to use. Here is my second attempt at a ring bearer pillow, which this time is a real pillow. This pillow is made with fabric from Wal-mart. I put tulle over it to make it shimmer more and make it look ocean-like. I sewed on the same ribbon we are using for the belly bands of our invitation in the corner. I wanted to attach ribbon behind the sea star for the rings and I was going to make a pocket for the coins in the center. As you can see, I did not get that far as the scores for this pillow in the works was not very good. Off to attempt #3! Hey third times a charm! ****

**** Second attempt earned a double thumbs down from mom and FI. I will try again with the new fabric I got from Jo-Ann's. Pictures to come!
The Final Attempt. Third times a charm, indeed! I used the same fabric as the flower girl basket to make the new pillow. This one came out way better and is much nicer than the previous attempts. The pocket is for the arras (coins). It seems a little crowded but it was the only way I could get both the ring and coin holders on without covering up the design.
Here is what we ended up using.
It is a wooden and glass box I got from AC Moore. Inside is a small pillow lining the bottom. On top, is the Arras made by my Uncle and the tiny ring pillow which held our rings. |
The Cord
The Veil
Framed in a shadow box is the veil, chord and the program for our ceremony. It's now on display in our house.
Pomanders
These Pomanders will be part of our aisle decor. The flowers are from the Dollar Tree and Michaels. There are a total of 14 of them. We will be roping off the pews with tulle then hanging a pomander on every other pew. We chose to use the fake flowers for easy clean-up. We will be using fresh flowers to decorate the alter since those will be donated to the church.

Bubbles and Fans
Wooden Name Hangers
I found colored floral wire at the Dollar Tree. They were 6ft each and I used 3 to make 5 hangers. I bought the wooden hangers from target.
Baskets
I bought these baskets on sale at Michael's. I relined the inside of the baskets with the left over fabric I bought from Jo-Ann's so that it matches our wedding colors. Once I finalize what the baskets will be used for (ie ceremony programs), I will make labels for each basket and attach the label with a belly band made from light yellow ribbon.
**Below are pictures of the original baskets. |
Bella's Dress
This is my dog, Bella. I had so much left over material so I made her a dress. Hopefully our photographer will let us take some pictures together!
Escort Cards on display ready for our guests!
Table Candles
Inside are shells and a votive candle. At the Reception, in use
Table Numbers
Old Table NumbersMy Friends, my sister and I traveled all throughout NJ to visit all the public lighthouses. My plan was to take pictures of the lighthouses and turn them into our table numbers. To be cost effective, I bought the dollar wooden frames from AC Moore. I used spray adhesive to apply the glittered sand. Then added shells and sea glass.
After looking at them months down the line, we decided that they would not match the decor on our tables. So, back to the drawing board! Ideas, Ideas, Ideas....what to do??? |
New Table NumbersThese are our new table number cards. They are shaker cards. The is real sand and shells inside. The photos were all found using google images. I actually found this idea from the DIY Bride book. The original idea from the book was to make Save the Dates using this method.

Koozies and Water Bottles
The Koozies are from oriental trading. We used iron-on transfers from AC Moore to put a design on them. The seahorses were originally from the weddingchicks.com free monograms. We used Adobe Illustrator to edit and add text.
The labels are waterproof labels from labelbythesheet.com. I used adobe illustrator to draw the seaweed and coral and add text.

Wine bottles
A group of my friends and I went to a winery and made our own wine. We made a Cab-Merlot from grape to wine! I decided to give these away as gifts to those who are important to the wedding. The labels were made using adobe photoshop and adobe illustrator. They were printed on waterproof wine labels from labelsbythesheet.com
